Our motto is ‘SINT UNUM’ – May they be one. (Jn.
17:22).
We are inspired by this important prayer of Jesus
for all to live in unity in the world. To this end, our emphasis is to live in
a community and have close associations with one another and promote oneness in
the world.
“The object of this community is to establish among
those who compose it, a truly Christian union so that the desire of Our Lord
Jesus Christ so earnestly expressed in this last discourse to his disciples will
be accomplished in them; sint unum sicut et nos unum sint John 17:22 and
that they may thus enter into the spirit of Christianity, so essentially
unifying.”
(1842 Archives Dames St. Louis).
Our life is inspired by Scripture, Eucharist, faith
sharing, communal and personal prayer and contemplation; through which we seek a
deeper relationship with God, with ourselves and with others. We try to live by:
- educating ourselves and
others
- developing an open
attitude
- sharing a vision of
faith
- having concern for the
environment
- encouraging peaceful
means of reconciliation among ourselves and others
- promoting justice and
peace (working to build God’s kingdom of justice, peace and love)
- Our special focus at
present is to work towards a greater understanding between ourselves and others
and to have a deeper respect for all ethnic groups.
