Official opening of Bakhita Empowerment Centre in Lagos takes place

bakhita 250x25025 APR, 2019. The Bakhita Empowerment Centre is a new two-storey building, located in Lagos, Nigeria, for survivors of human trafficking. Owned by the Sisters of St Louis, it is in the process of replacing the old Bakhita Villa next door, which is the property of the church, and which the sisters used for six years. The new centre will provide accommodation, counselling, reintegration, and skills acquisition, among other things for the survivors. It will accommodate up to 20 girls that have been rescued from trafficking and up to six sisters. The building also has a visitor’s room, chapel, conference room, offices, laundry facilities and kitchen. On March 26, 2019, the Bakhita Empowerment Centre, was officially blessed and opened.
